CCTV footage shows how the Noida bar brawl started and escalated

How did the fight at the Lost Lemons resto-bar in the Gardens Galleria mall in Noida, in which 30-year-old Brijesh Rai was killed, start?

CCTV footage from the spot shows it all started with a fight over the bill, which was followed by the flash of a moving camera, and then came the first shot.

It is unclear if the beaten man is Rai.

The video clip from the entrance to the resto-bar shows people arguing with staff members.

Amidst the chaos, a man is seen recording the fight on the phone, after which a mobile flashlight goes out.

The staff members are then seen cornering him, to which he pushes one of them and then comes the first blow to his face.

The two sides are then seen jumping into the fight.

Rai is survived by his wife Pooja, a schoolteacher, and two children aged five and three.

In another video that went viral, she was seen telling Rai’s friends, “I was always against friends who get drunk and pass out. The same friends had him killed and now you show that you are part of the family. Families aren’t like that, neither are friends.”

SUSPENDED LICENSE

The Noida district administration suspended the resto-bar’s license on Wednesday. Seven people were arrested and sent to prison.

The Noida Police Commissioner has ordered excise officers to carry out mandatory proper checks on staff working in different malls, bars-pubs and restaurants in the jurisdiction. If, during the inspection, a staff member is discovered without verification, immediate action must be taken.

To maintain additional law and order outside shopping malls and bars in Noida, police deployment has been activated with wearable sets as well as body cameras. Traffic police should also be roped in to check for drunk driving in the neighborhood.
