Neat Bourbon Bar & Bottle Shop opens on Bardstown Road this week

Neat bourbon bar and bottle shop, a new point of sale inspired by the 1920s It’s okay serve drinks and sell whole bottles of bourbon, opens tomorrow, January 14, at 10 a.m. at 1139 Bardstown Road.

The bar will sell nearly 30 brands of bourbon, including Kentucky labels like Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark and Wild Turkey. Their extensive drink menu includes over 200 varieties of bourbon, ranging in price from $5 for an ounce to $240 for a taste of Very Olde Saint Nick 20 Year.

You can also order from a list of seven specialty cocktails. Or, try Neat’s $10 specialty cocktail named and “inspired by the owners” of Bungalou, the local development group that purchased the property Neat now occupies. The characteristics of the drink cognac, curaçao, honey, vanilla and lemon.

Owners Owen Powell and Danielle Elder encourage people to sell them unopened vintage liquor bottles at add to the bar’s collection — as they say, “WE LOVE DUSTY BOTTLES!” They can resell them thanks to Kentucky’s Vintage Spirits Act, which allows bars to sell bottles of vintage liquor that aren’t otherwise available from distributors.

The Mail Log was the first to break the news of the opening of Neat in November. They revealed that Bungalou was also converting other buildings around the bar into 12 vacation rentals in order to attract Bourbon-related tourism.

Neat will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
