It seems the debut of Nine Orchard, the boutique hotel in the famous Jarmulowsky Bank building, has finally arrived. The 14-story tower, built in 1912, was purchased in 2011 by DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners. A painstaking restoration of the property, including the reinstatement of the distinctive 60-foot-tall spire on the roof, has been underway for years. The other day, the hotel’s PR team announced a spring 2022 opening.

A press release said bed and breakfast reservations are available from July 1. Celebrity chef Ignacio Mattos (Estela, Altro Paradiso, Lodi) is behind Nine Orchard’s multiple restaurants, bars and event spaces. Mattos Hospitality has been recruiting for some time. As noted on the Culinary Agents website, “The dining program at Nine 9 Orchard will include an elegant upscale restaurant, neighborhood bar and lounge, rooftop bar, in-room dining and a collection of spaces private events.”

As highlighted in the recent press eblast, “The lobby features a soaring vaulted ceiling and large arched windows; Here, where bank tellers once worked, customers can check in, relax and have a coffee or drink.

There are 116 rooms, including three suites with a terrace. Although there is a reservation section on the Nine Orchard website, you need a promotional code to reserve a room at this time.

The Jarmulowsky property was purchased in 2011 by DLJ for $33 million. It became a city landmark in 2009.
