Try Your Vacation Shopping At These Mid Michigan Stores
LANSING, Michigan – Did the supply chain shortage disguise itself as the Grinch and steal your Christmas this year? Still need last minute gifts? Here are a few places in central Michigan where you can try holiday shopping.
General store in the old town
From fine wine to Michigan-themed merchandise, the Old Town General Store has a variety of things you can purchase for a holiday gift. The store has been in the Old Town for almost nine years.
“We make gift baskets. We personalize them. We strive to support other small businesses in Michigan by offering their products here,” said owner Rhea Van Atta.
The Old Town General Store offers candles, delicious chocolates, mugs and handmade soaps. They also have little things that can make great stocking stuffers like soup mixes, dip mixes, and coasters.
“There’s so much, you know, we all have people in our lives that we want to give a gift to, but they already have so much, you know, and I think consumables are a good idea,” Van says Atta.
Normal hours are Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Christmas Eve, their hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Popcorn Gourmet Cravings
How about giving away popcorn this holiday season? Cravings Gourmet Popcorn shakes things up and has so many flavors. The store has been open and has been offering savory and sweet treats since 2007.
“We have traditional stuff, we have caramel, corn, cheddar, white cheddar, movie theater popcorn. But we also have things that are more invisible like the dill pickle, or we have a Kansas City warm white cheddar, which looks like a really spicy warm white cheddar, ”said owner Chad Jordan.
Popcorn is the perfect gift for events and holiday season. We also love popcorn while watching movies, so why not bring some back to the family?
“People want to share happiness with their families. So buy popcorn, boxes, bags of popcorn, candy, and candy. It’s a lot of fun. It’s just one of those things. which makes the vacation even more enjoyable, ”Jordan said.
They also sell popcorn making supplies for those who would rather be their own popcorn chef.
Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The boutique is open until 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. And on Sunday they serve the kettle from noon to 5 p.m. And on Christmas Eve they will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The record fair
And finally, The Record Lounge at REO Town has everything you need for music lovers, assuming they have a turntable.
“We’ve got everything soul, classic country. We’ve got hip hop, classic rock, whatever you can imagine. We even have new vinyl,” said owner Heather Frarey.
The store started 13 years ago.
The new vinyl features Billy Eilish and the Queen Bee herself Beyonce. The store also carries vintage electronics and quite a few Christmas records to help set the holiday mood.
“You know, to me, music is memories, you know, if someone would say, you know, I don’t care about music, it blows my mind,” Frarey said. “Because for me if I hear a song from maybe when I went to college or something, it would always remind me of a funny memory and especially during Christmas time.”
And Frarey says if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they can order it.
The boutique is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, they are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
